[ 14 Nov.2011] - Another heresy/perversion - from p.28 of the same book: " ... the Cathars were against sex, eating meat, drinking wine and anything else that brought material comfort and pleasure. ... were vegetarians on the grounds that animals were produced by sexual intercourse ... The Cathars discouraged marriage on the same grounds, although they did practice sodomy, apparently permissible as it did not risk the sin of procreation.
... Fearing persecution, the Cathars kept their faith secret.
They knew they could not take on the power of the Catholic Church and win, so rather than opposing the church directly, they sought to undermine it by infiltrating its ranks. "
